Document Control -- Sharepoint and Excel

Our take

Document control can present challenges when using SharePoint with embedded Excel files in Word documents. When you update calculations in an Excel file, they may not retain the changes if they reference a SharePoint link. This issue arises when multiple users access files, as only the original user has the necessary permissions. Despite efforts to remove the SharePoint reference from the Excel file, it reappears upon saving. Addressing this will enhance collaboration and ensure that all users benefit from accurate, updated calculations.

Hi, I'm working on documents that contain either an embedded Excel file in a docx or the document record has a docx and an xlsx individually.

For some reason, when we update calculations in the Excel file, the calculations don't "stay" in that Excel doc, if you click on the Fx it will say the link is Sharepoint! My file path! and then the calculation.

Which does no one any good because only I have access to my Sharepoint and these files are accessed by dozens. We've tried everything to remove the Sharepoint reference in one xlsx and as soon as you save, it pops right back in there.
