Form control drop down list+ color coding
Our take
If you're looking to create a drop-down list in a single cell while maintaining visibility for color-coded task statuses, you're not alone. Many users face challenges with form control boxes obscuring cell information and formatting. You might be wondering how to edit the text and formatting of your form control box, perhaps making it 'no fill' to ensure your cell's color coding is visible. Alternatively, there’s an interest in keeping the arrow from the data validation command in the same cell.
okay so I'm making a drop down list that has permanent arrow in the same cell as my options. now the list has tasks assigned and I want to color code on the basis of done/not done/in progress
I used the index formula but I think the information in the cell is hidden behind the form control box so is the conditional formatting
Does anyone know how to edit text and formatting of the form control box - even if I can make it 'no fill' so the cell formatting is visible
or keep the arrow from data validation command in the same cell?
is there any other way I can achieve the same cell arrow and color coding both?

But this is obvioiusly tedious to do, creates room for human error and more. Is there a way to automate this? (ignore my typos lmao), submitted by /u/BBearree [link] [comments]
- Conditional formatting based on a different cell's valueI'm fumbling my way through conditional formatting on a tracking sheet I'm creating. I have the status and required delivery formatting the way I want, but now I'm running into an issue where I want it to clear the formatting of the required delivery cell once the status cell is set to "complete" like the bottom row. The status cells are drop down menu if that makes a difference. https://preview.redd.it/0va9fhl9tlvg1.png?width=346&format=png&auto=webp&s=a470a51c639e165a0e4bb41b626d60743cf457c1 I've tried playing around with "IF" formulas, but nothing seems to be happy with what I'm trying. Any thoughts? submitted by /u/Senior_Cheesecake155 [link] [comments]
