Ideas on a formula for budgeting?
Our take
If you're looking to effectively manage your budget, you can create a formula that starts with your new additional budget in Cell L10 and tracks your allocations. To achieve this, you could use the formula `=L10 - N7`, placed in the cell where you want to display the remaining budget. As you add to your original budget in Cell N7, this formula will show how much of the new budget is still available.
I can't remember a formula and Google/AI isn't helping because I don't think I can explain it simply enough.
Scenario: Current Budget is Cell N7. I was granted an additional Budget to add to the current budget. New Additional budget is in Cell L10.
I need a formula that would be placed in another cell, where the total in this cell starts with the New Additional Budget (Cell L10), and as I add budget to the original above, this will Zero out - so I know I've allocated all the new budget to the original. Any ideas? Thank you!

- Formula works in most of the cells ant not othersI downloaded a budget excel that was basicly what i was looking for. I coped it 13 times in the work sheet one for each month and 1 for a yearly total. The yearly one is running a current total for the year for what was done so far. My issue is that most of the cells this will work in but there is one section it will not do a running total for unless i have an amount in every cell for the 12 months. Any ideas what could be the issue submitted by /u/cbeard0245 [link] [comments]
- Formula needed to auto categorize budgetI want my budget to automatically categorize my transactions. I have a tab made up of all the different transactions that go through my bank account and next to each is the applicable category. I need a formula that will search the transaction list and enter the applicable categories. This is my BUDGET tab. O is the column I would like to enter a formula in to automatically enter the category based on the information in N https://preview.redd.it/6qtnudyd2lvg1.jpg?width=805&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=463cd61c14c5f283791d3b375403844f994cd504 This is my LIST tab, within the same spreadsheet https://preview.redd.it/ffu0ixc13lvg1.jpg?width=497&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f4fbffe6031fa390c7fb275e9e3a3d0cc7b7118 Thank you in advance! submitted by /u/Funkatronjive [link] [comments]
- Excel is adding not subtractinghttps://preview.redd.it/09htc7pezqsg1.png?width=1350&format=png&auto=webp&s=499c4052d87f97a78a31a0acc6018a8e82d4d4b3 The formula bar shows the formula for cell H21 (£1,222.80). How has Excel has arrived at this number by adding up all the figures in orange in column C and subtracting them from E21? I've used this relatively simple budgeting spreadsheet for years now, but when I went to update the figures, this happened. I haven't changed anything except the number in E21. Edit: Apparently reading comprehension was the problem here, not my Excel skills. Solved submitted by /u/WorhummerWoy [link] [comments]
