Multiple Tab Project Tracking Dashboard
Our take
I have an extremely large project with about 50+ same/similar program workflows. Each workflow is about a dozen different steps (i.e. Research, Revise Documents, Create work-orders, etc.) with some steps having multiple iterations (i.e. Revise Document 1, Revise Document 2) within a program/work flow. Each Step is organized by Worksheet tabs (i.e. a master document revision tab, a master work-order tab) with a column indicating what work flow/program its associated with, along with columns for preparer, reviewer, due date, status, etc..
What is the simplest way to slice and dice the data into a dashboard? Regular Pivot Table doesn't pull from multiple tabs, I can't seem to wrestle power pivot with many to many relationships, we've tried POWER Bi, and MS Lists with no luck.
Ideally, I want a dashboard to filter by program/workflow, and see all steps, and iterations with owner, due date, etc. Looking for Suggestions.
Bonus points if it can take a another slice by owner (across workflow, programs, iteration, prepare/reviewer) to essentially be an individual's personal action/assignment list.

- Excel Dashboard - InteractiveHi. I have to build an Excel dashboard to share with Senior Leadership. I can't build it in Power BI as licenses are limited and I am not allowed access to a workspace to publish for those without licenses. The data set is taken from our IT self service ticket system. I have it formatted as a table with a few helper columns to cleanse issues. I need to present info on tickets by: -directorate -divisions -ticket category -status (open or closed) -length of time open or by length time to resolve when closed. -It has to be visual and not just pivots so needs graphs etc. -It needs to be interactive in a way that the one workbook with the data and dashboard will be available to the Senior Leadership of each directorate or division, who need to be able to filter or use a slicer to amend the visuals for their own areas, and then go to the data set to see only those tickets. (1) i can create pivots tables and charts based on the table, and then slicers based on these, but they don't modify the table which is a requirement. (2) I can create slicers directly from the table which will modify it but then I can't connect these to a pivots table or chart to modify them on the dashboard itself. (3) this will be saved on sharepoint so I can't use any macros if they are a solution, and it has to be dummy proof - with all the goodwill in the world, someone will make a fuss if they can't see something or do something, and it will come back to bite me. Has anyone any ideas on how I can do this? I've tried searching for templates etc but I can't really work out the best way of doing this? I always thought i was pretty decent at Excel but dashboards are not something I would ever really create to be honest. Thanks in advance submitted by /u/liamlarmour [link] [comments]
- Duplicate Tab into Additional Filtered TabsI have a spreadsheet dashboard with all current projects as rows with info about the projects (including the deliverable month) in the columns. I would like to duplicate the dashboard tab onto additional tabs and have the contents filtered to show each month's deliverable projects. I would like these monthly tabs to be editable, where any changes made there are reflected on the dashboard tab (and vice versa). What is the most beginner-friendly way to make this happen? submitted by /u/clairewcurlyhair [link] [comments]
- Creating an auto-populating visual calendar for multiple departments to view?I coordinate student schedules across multiple hospital units. I log the shifts in an hours log spreadsheet (date, start time, end time, unit, student name, etc.). Every month, I need to send each unit a schedule showing who is coming in and when so they can review and plan coverage. Right now, this part is very manual, and does not lend to tracking any data like how many students on each units, hours, etc., which we need as a department. We have over 100 students each month, so as much automizing as possible would be helpful as its a big process. Ideally, I’d like something that: Pulls directly from the hours log (no retyping or copy/paste) Is easy to read at a glance for unit managers Can handle many units, many months, and many students Lets me filter by unit + month I'm not really an excel genius, and I've been using copilot to help me with some of this and formulations, but It's not providing me with accurate formulas for the actual calendar conversion. If there are any resources on what formulas to use, what platforms that I could maybe look into for how to do this, or just honestly any advice at all. We've gotten the data tracking mostly drafted up and it's able to pull from pivot tables and show the analytics, but the calendar is my biggest hurdle at the moment. submitted by /u/JuggernautFlashy6489 [link] [comments]
- Need Excel workflow advice for multi-region data cleanup and tracking progressHi excel pros, I work for a company with about 20k employees, and I’ve got a spreadsheet of roughly 2,000 people who are missing data for two required info columns. These employees are spread out across different regions, and then further down to individual locations/teams. What I need to do is send each region only their portion of the data, have them push it out to their locations to fix, and then somehow track what’s been completed and pull everything back together into one clean file. In the past, I’ve been filtering data, saving separate files, emailing them out, then trying to keep track of who’s done what and combining everything back together. I’m worried I’m going to run into version control issues or miss updates. It’s also very cumbersome and it has ended up just being a big stressful mess in the past. I feel like there has to be a better way to handle this, but I’m not sure if I’m overcomplicating it or missing something obvious in Excel. I’m very much a basic user and not super familiar with more advanced features, but I’m willing to learn. Has anyone set up a process like this before? Appreciate any advice or ideas. Even just “here’s how I’d approach it” would be super helpful. submitted by /u/Magnolia05 [link] [comments]
