Sync between multiple sheets and sorted by different column
Our take
Are you tired of double entering data in Excel just to keep multiple sheets sorted differently? This common frustration can slow you down and drain your productivity. Fortunately, there’s a smarter way to manage your data. By syncing your sheets, you can ensure that updates in one are automatically reflected in the other, all while maintaining different sorting criteria. In this article, we’ll explore how to streamline your workflow and save time, allowing you to focus on what truly matters—making data-driven decisions with ease.
I currently have an excel file with two sheets. The data in each sheet is the same but sorted by different columns. Currently I am double entering the data in each sheet. Is it possible to sync data from one sheet to another but have the data sorted by a different column? I know I can keep resorting when I need to see it sorted a certain way but the constant sorting is taking too much time when I flash back and forth so much.
For example, sheet 1 has all the data entered and sheet 2 is a copy of that data just sorted differently. Then when new data is entered into sheet 1 it auto syncs to sheet 2 and is auto sorted.

- How to link data from specific columns on one sheet to another, then sort it column A alphabetically and match the other columns based on corresponding data from Sheet 1I am a beginner at attempting to write formulas in Excel, and I am currently using Excel on a web browser mainly but can and do occasionally edit in the desktop version. I believe the version is Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 in the desktop version, or at least that's the product activated. I have two sheets on the same spreadsheet, and I want to pull in the data from 4 different columns to the second sheet and have it automatically update when there are changes or additions to the first sheet. I have a couple issues making this happen - the main one is that the data in my first sheet is custom sorted by color, but I want the new sheet to take the data from column B on sheet 1 and sort it alphabetically, and take the other columns and match them correspondingly to the correct values they match to from column B on the first sheet. Secondly, for blank cells, I want it to leave them blank instead of inputting zero, or any dates. I don't know if this is all even possible, or if I should just remove my custom filters from sheet 1 by cell color and just link it that way. I've spent hours trying to find formulas that work. Please see attached images for reference on what I've tried, and for more clarification as to exactly what I'm requesting. Sorry for the copious redacting, I wanted to be safe rather than sorry with identifiable info regarding this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://preview.redd.it/6vt2ocasj9kg1.png?width=1199&format=png&auto=webp&s=35a78bf5c6d96437094c04023d3ca24fa6ec3399 https://preview.redd.it/kqbi5za5k9kg1.png?width=791&format=png&auto=webp&s=f80ee9272131546132c6925e5d0a8b9dc3ae74f2 https://preview.redd.it/1947drz7k9kg1.png?width=836&format=png&auto=webp&s=4c07c1354c348ee85b1a556d21dd0c677b1ae659 https://preview.redd.it/8ynxkp39k9kg1.png?width=869&format=png&auto=webp&s=7d69705a4a61702e0f89a49f485f8cf53d230146 https://preview.redd.it/7fd5p2v9k9kg1.png?width=943&format=png&auto=webp&s=cd3c9fe721db57b44f7b5260ac891641a80170a0 submitted by /u/MeretrixRex [link] [comments]
- How do I alphabetize one column making sure the corresponding data in an another column matches the change?I want to make a copy of a spreadsheet that’s ordered by a reverse look up, it’s two interdependent columns of data but so far I can figure out how to alphabetize one and have the other column of data adjust to the change in order? submitted by /u/SluttyDreidel [link] [comments]
- Hot folder data sorting. My goal is to create a hot folder that I am able to continuously drop data sheets into. Then have excel transfer a few specific cells ie.( totals, names )into a uniform row on a new table/sheet. •all data sheets will be formatted the exact same and information will be in the same positions across all of them •data sheets will be added daily •each data sheet needs to create its own respective line representing information from only that sheet •some of the cells needed are a result of total formulas in the data sheet •no information besides the specific cells should reflect in the new table (Photos in comments) P1- example of the data sheets used with the cells circled that are wanted to be transferred. P2- example of what it should somewhat look like when presented in the table/sheet submitted by /u/Notsuspicious444 [link] [comments]
- Sort data with multiple header rows?Hi everyone! I am trying to see if it's possible for me to sort data in a sheet that has multiple header rows. The sheet is tracking orders in different statuses, I have it separated for the New orders in the top section, then row 11 starts those that have had initial attention, but not fully in progress, on row 25, I have a header row for those who are fully in progress, etc The purpose of the separation is because there is different information I have to keep track of for each of these statuses, but I don't want to have them in different sheets because it's so helpful to be able to refer to them all in one spot. I'm hoping to be able to alphabetically sort customer names and also sort by dates, but the date columns are not uniform throughout the different statuses. If anyone knows if this is possible, help would be so appreciated!! Nevermind everyone! I figured it out by highlighting each section and inserting a table with headers! Leaving this here and marking as solved in case it helps someone! submitted by /u/tashykat [link] [comments]
