Hi everyone, I am working on an Excel tutorial from Cengage and I've reached a point where the data should be generating in a table for me to use in a later step. I've tried everything I can think of and I still can't get it to work. As you can see in the screenshot, the formula has already been provided and put into the cells within the table. I've also included a screenshot of the instructions. Thank you for any suggestions!

- Formula Shopping List GeneratorI'm trying to create an automated meal planner and then based on the options I choose for the week to generate a shopping list. Everything is working apart from the fact I can't work out how to actually generate a list which would consolidate the options, aggregate numbers and provide me with a simple list. I've attached a screenshot which shows the formula im using (which is working) But it's then how I use that data to then create the consolidated list. I tried text to columns but that splits out the formula not the actual text that the formula returned. https://preview.redd.it/tsteb3sk9tpg1.png?width=1671&format=png&auto=webp&s=bf637182cbd50c8b1f6bba528f5f723ae888a284 submitted by /u/beng934 [link] [comments]
- Cell merging / formatting formulasThis might be an odd one. I'm not that skilled with excel as my use of in within my job is pretty limited. However, I tend to use this template my predecessor made to summarize data from our program. Works well, just a simple ='SHEET 1'!A1 for all cells. The first two images give an example. After the data is ported, I have to get rid of the zeros between the data and write system names. When it comes to pasting it on letters, the names are bolded, upped a font size, and two of the cells are merged (3rd image) This gets a bit tedious as the lists can get pretty long so I've been trying to figure out how to streamline it on my own. My idea has so far has been to have a separate cell detect when I'm finished adding my data and then format the aforementioned cells (4th image). For the life of me, just can't figure out how to write a formula to do it. What I would need is for the formula to detect a 1 (could be anything) in cell G10. It would then check for any blank cells in columns A and B. Once found, it would merge & center, bold the text, increase the font size, and align right. Is this only possible with a macro? I've been unable to find any formulas that could accomplish this. https://preview.redd.it/853mpr4jspog1.png?width=788&format=png&auto=webp&s=943a34a57f1d7c7f88256dd89b81b9c6fc301e34 https://preview.redd.it/e3w6ms4jspog1.png?width=453&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b189fa77d6638b627f8676dad60bc148753617c https://preview.redd.it/msh6ys4jspog1.png?width=411&format=png&auto=webp&s=d5f5025b315f24fd5f3a64c6e07e019abd3a77ab https://preview.redd.it/7j66tt4jspog1.png?width=936&format=png&auto=webp&s=1faa4df12ee74892f5fa9dc27ac95621280cf3c5 submitted by /u/Extension_Train9093 [link] [comments]
- Excel templates for statistics displaying incomplete answersI am taking an intro to statistics class, and we are allowed to use software with built-in templates to solve problems (in fact it's encouraged), but I am not very confident as far as creating complex tables, and have been trying to find pre-built tables so that I don't have to either a) learn Excel to the level that I could comfortably design my own templates or b) make a spreadsheet from scratch for each problem. There is a free online course from OER Commons that has template that would help me get through the huge volume of very similar problems I have to do, so far it's the only resource I have found that covers everything I need (I have looked at many sites that offer templates, so far the second best is one called Real Statistics, which has some helpful things but is not comprehensive). BTW I have tried using StatCrunch, which has all the functions that these OER spreadsheets do, but I find Statcrunch extremely clumsy, especially because it is very bad for doing basic calculations. When I download the templates from OER Commons, via a page called "Excel Templates as a Statistical Tool," to my untrained eye, it appears that some of the formulas are either not active or did not download successfully, as certain cells which should autopopulate with answers remain blank after I enter data. I am wondering whether these templates are flawed, or whether there is a setting that I need to adjust in order to activate their full functionality. I used the Control + ~ button to try to see what formulas are there and which are missing, and the screenshots below show that only one of the expected formulas appears to be working. There are many different sheets, for different types of problems, but all suffer from this same problem of having only one or two functioning formulas. I am wondering if there might be some things I could try to in order to restore the full functionality of these templates. - Any advice welcome. Work document instructions followed but result still not up to par. Data missing or duplicated. Copy Paste not captured all data selected.I'm at my wits end and I can't tell if the problem is me, the person who wrote the instructions, or Excel. So part of my job is to take an Excel files provide by corporate, transform the data into a table, then split that information up between 4 separate sheets while keeping the table unchanged. I've been here for 2 months. When I first started the task, I was given a video and written instructions on how to do it. Great. I love that. Except I follow the instructions and the notes from the video to a T, and there are still a plethora of micro issues, it's like playing whack-a-mole. Either data is missing that I never deleted, or the file suddenly looses a massive amount of data after being turned into a table, or any other number of errors that have occured in the last 8 submissions. My direct supervisor says not to be too hard on myself bc it's an intricate process that even she isn't full trained on so it's sort of the blind leading the blind, but that doesn't stop the angry calls from the person down the line who receives the newly formated sheets. Any advice is welcome. submitted by /u/Celestial_Ram [link] [comments]
