Visiting Rome with my pregnant wife in a few days, first time there, any advice welcome

We booked a bit last minute and we're heading to Rome in a few days (22nd - 26th of April). My wife is 5 months pregnant, still pretty active and happy to walk, but this will definitely be a slower trip than we're used to and I want to get the planning right rather than wing it and wear her out.

We're staying at a hotel about 2km from the centre, so walking into things is doable but I want to be smart about it. Happy to use taxis or public transport when it makes sense. What I'm trying to figure out is how to pace the days, which sights are worth the effort and which ones are honestly fine to skip, and whether there's a smarter order to see things in to avoid unnecessary back-and-forth.

The other thing I'm stuck on is the Vatican. Because we booked late, there's nothing available online at the regular price, just reseller tickets going for 70+ EUR per person when the standard ticket is around 25. I'm wondering if it's worth showing up early and queuing for on-the-day tickets at the door, or if that's a nightmare and I should just pay the resellers. Anyone done this recently?

Any tips at all, whether it's about traveling with a pregnant partner, navigating Rome as first-timers, hidden spots worth knowing, or good places to sit down and eat without it being a tourist trap, all of it is useful. Cheers.
