GM must now ask permission before collecting driver location data in $220M settlement

General Motors must now ask for explicit permission before collecting or sharing driver location data, a requirement born from a $220 million settlement. That's a meaningful shift for privacy. The settlement suggests regulators are paying closer attention to how automakers handle sensitive data. For context, Bank of America recently warned that AI users own the risk when sharing passwords. Both stories underscore a growing expectation: consent matters, whether you're behind the wheel or using an AI agent.
