Why Your RAG Pipeline Overlooks a Simple 1994 Fix for Precision

Embeddings can tell you that "broken" means "defective," but they often miss that ZX-4821 is not ZX-4812. That's where a 1994 algorithm quietly outperforms modern pipelines. Precision isn't about semantic similarity, it's about exact identifiers. If your retrieval system confuses part numbers, it's not intelligent; it's sloppy. Discover why this simple fix matters. For a deeper look at how pipelines mislead, see our story on what an ID column taught us about cross-validation.
