A Laptop-Scale Test Suggests Good Views Beat Next-Token Prediction

A laptop-scale test suggests good views beat next-token prediction for aligning text and image models. Using human captions only, the approach scored 0.320 in mutual nearest-neighbor retrieval, far ahead of next-token prediction's 0.148. This is a practical, transparent replication of a larger paper, and its clear results invite further exploration.
