When Conference Reviews Ask for What a Journal Deserves

A conference review that demands lengthy additions, often pushing beyond the stated scope, is really asking for a journal submission in disguise. When a paper is already at page limit, those extras belong in supplemental materials, but that creates a real problem: it can block a later journal publication. That is a costly trap. The reviewer likely means well, but the mismatch between venue and expectation is frustrating. If the work needs that much more, it is not a conference paper anymore.
