A Practical Framework for Scoring Intelligent Document Processing

Confidence is not correctness. That's the central tension in scoring Intelligent Document Processing, and the two-part series on medium tackles it head-on. It walks through how raw extraction outcomes map to the confusion matrix, where misreads, blanks, and invented values land, and why Accuracy inflates when correct blanks are counted. The tradeoffs between F1, Recall, and Jaccard are laid out clearly. It's a practical survey for anyone reading benchmark results, not a vendor pitch.
