Lab-grown human intestines give drugmakers a smarter path beyond animal testing

For decades, drugmakers have relied on animal testing to understand how new medicines behave in the human gut. That model is showing its limits. Intero Biosystems now offers a smarter path: lab-grown human intestines. These organoids let researchers observe real human biology without the guesswork of animal models. As regulators push for alternatives, this technology feels both timely and transformative. It is a practical step toward more accurate, humane drug development.
