AI empowers a personal quest to repurpose drugs for colon cancer care
When an unpaid ML researcher reprograms his life to find drug repurposing candidates for his wife's Stage 4 colon cancer, the technical challenge becomes deeply human. Training NBFnets on a 103K-node biomedical graph, his A100s downgrade from batch 512 to 64 within seconds. That means 76-hour runs at $412 per pass. He is now questioning every GPU dollar. His solution? A toy synthetic model to prove the mechanism works before scaling. It is a smart, sobering pivot.
