Can a live MS Forms response spreadsheet be moved into a manger only private channel?

Our take

Managing overtime requests through Microsoft Forms can be challenging, especially when it comes to keeping sensitive data secure. If you’re looking to store your response spreadsheet in a private channel accessible only to managers, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, moving an existing live Excel file into a private Teams channel isn’t straightforward. However, there are alternative solutions to explore, such as limiting Excel access while keeping the Form in OneDrive or creating a dedicated team for managers.

Hi all,

I’m a manager trying to track overtime requests using Microsoft Forms. I have a situation where:

• Staff submit their responses via a Form • I want the response Excel to live in a location only managers can access (so staff cannot see it) • Our Teams setup has a channel with staff and a private manager channel, but Microsoft Forms won’t let me move an existing response Excel into a private channel • I don’t want to create a new Form or rely on Power Automate if possible

Our alternatives might be:

• Keep the Form in OneDrive / main channel and limit Excel access to managers • Create a completely new Team for managers only and copy the Form there

My questions:

1. Has anyone successfully moved a live Forms Excel into a private Teams channel? 2. Are there any workarounds besides using Power Automate? 3. What do people recommend for maintaining a manager-only live master spreadsheet wit
