Conditional formatting of a row based on data in one column and a blank in another
Our take
Are you tired of manually identifying which rows in your spreadsheet need attention? Conditional formatting can streamline this process, allowing you to visually highlight important data points effortlessly. By setting up a rule that highlights cells in column C yellow when there’s data in column B but a blank in column C, you can enhance your data’s clarity at a glance. In this guide, we'll provide the precise formula you need to implement this conditional formatting across all rows, transforming your workflow for the better.
I want to set conditional formatting for rows so when there is data in column B but a blank in column C, the cell in column C is highlighted yellow. I want this to apply to all rows.
What formula do I need?
Thanks in advance.

- How to apply conditional formatting to multiple columns based off of data in one columnHello, I am working on a spreadsheet where I would like both columns B and C to change to the same color based on the information in column B, regarless of what it says in column C. For example, column B might read "Tan" and column C reads "Brick Yellow", but I want both cells to change to the formatting that I select for the word "Tan". Any help is appreciated! - Conditional formatting for highlighting cellsI have two very lengthy columns, let’s call them column A and column B. I need to highlight all of the cells in column B whose content does not appear in column A, but there are 80+ cells I’d have to check and it’d take me a really long time. I’m in no way an expert on excel but I do know I’d have to use conditional formatting, I just don’t know how to build the formula for this :( submitted by /u/Nandolvs [link] [comments]
- Conditional formatting highlighted cellsHoping you can help me! Everyone at my office is a huge novice with Excel - I understand the basics but am not terribly great myself. We need one (hopefully) simple thing. Essentially, we have a dataset that we want to flag column A with a highlighted color if anything in that row is a color. Column A will always contain one of 5 words -- I've already done that with data validation. But what we want is, for instance, if I highlight cell H7 in yellow, it would then highlight A7 with the same color. I tried playing around with conditional formatting but I wasn't able to get it quite right. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give! submitted by /u/THE_GREAT_PICKLE [link] [comments]
- Conditional Formatting with another cell?Hi everyone! I'm trying to create a condition where depending on the value of two cells, it will change the fill of one of them. For example, If Cell A is < 10% AND Cell B is X, then Cell A will be green. If it is > 10% and Cell B is X, then Cell A is red. How would I go about doing this? submitted by /u/Educational-Bass-413 [link] [comments]
