Excel on Mac shifts between open sheets when, while entering a function, I hit Cmd+Shift+Arrow or Ctrl+Shift+Arrow, WHY?

Our take

If you're experiencing issues with Excel on your Mac, where using Cmd+Shift+Arrow or Ctrl+Shift+Arrow while entering a function like SUM switches you to another open file, you're not alone. This behavior can be frustrating and may stem from shortcut mappings or settings within Excel. Understanding the potential reasons behind this issue can help you regain control over your workflow. So I use Excel on my Macbook.

Whenever I try entering a function like SUM and I want to select a range with Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Arrow it switches to another open Excel file and I don't understand why. It happens 95% of the time, and I'm not sure if there's a weird shortcut mapping or something weirder going on.

Has anyone gone through this? Thanks
