How to automate updated SKU code in spreadsheet
Our take
I have a spreadsheet that has a list of sku codes for products across multiple sheets. The sku codes that are on the sheets that I have currently are “in house” (basically a place holder) sku because we use these templates for multiple vendors.
We have a vendor that provided an excel catalogue of sku that are specific to their company. Basically I need a way to link my sheets with their information. So if my sku for drywall is 1234 currently but the sku they use is 4567 I need my sheet to update any sku that is 1234 to 4567.
The one master catalogue of skus will be spread across tens of spreadsheets. Master catalogue is every material used in home building vs my sheets are broken up by category. Does anyone know what tools is can use to accomplish this?

- Change contents of cells based on a drop downSo, I'm trying to generate a spreadsheet to make the forms we use in the office to issue keys. When people are given an apartment, we have a sheet with all the key numbers on it, and then they sign for it. At the moment, we've got 22 different PDFs and Word documents, and it doesn't work. So, what I want to do is this. I've built the template in Excel and created a Reference sheet which will have all the numbers in it. What I am trying to do is set it up so that when you use the Apartment number from a dropdown, it populates with all the key numbers. This sounds like it should be easy to do, but my Excel brain is broken. Advice would be much appreciated! submitted by /u/Hot_Syrup_1774 [link] [comments]
- One master list to auto update several other listsHello! I’ve been looking all over but haven’t found anything quite like what I need. I’m hoping you all can help. Let me try to summarize. Ideally I need to have a master sheet with all my data that automatically updates several external sheets with specific data from within the master. They also need to be able to add and delete automatically when the master is updated. For example I have a table of account numbers, their amounts, rates, related entities, etc on the master sheet. I’ll also need spreadsheets that only shows account information for Entity A, another for Entity B, and so on. Entity A and B may have some of the same account information, but not all. I know I can reference the master with a formula, but if new accounts are added, I’ll have to manually update each sheet. I’d like to avoid that. I looked into Power Query, but I don’t need it to combine multiple sheets or manipulate any data. Pivot tables also don’t seem to be working for this. - Can I "link" different spreadsheets together and make them "communicate"?i am new to excel but hoping to get a quick answer to my question as I am having trouble finding this on the web. i have Spreadsheet A where new hires get added to a list by someone else. This include their name, division, email, etc. I manage education and compliance in Spreadsheet B which includes me having to manually go through spreadsheet A and pulling all the info over. other than this inconvenience, the trouble is the person managing spreadsheet A deletes these people from her spreadsheet after she is done with their on boarding process so if i dont catch it, its a pain in the ass for me to get that info lol. is there a way for me to have my spreadsheet get updated when she updates hers, but not have that information deleted if she were to delete something from it? submitted by /u/AbleKaleidoscope877 [link] [comments]
- Formula for updating large volume of retail cost pricesHi everyone, hoping someone more capable than me can help. I'm trying to update a load of cost prices for my business - I've exported a list of the products I want to change with the relevant fields as an Excel spreadsheet and I've imported a spreadsheet with updated cost prices onto a separate sheet within the same workbook. Each product has an order code that matches the product code from the cost price spreadsheet. Is it possible to use a formula to pull the updated cost price from its sheet and have it populate the relevant field in the product sheet using the order code as an identifier to match the information so I don't have to change them all manually? There's a few thousand products so any help is greatly appreciated 😅 submitted by /u/Lopsided_Primary_850 [link] [comments]
