One master list to auto update several other lists
Our take
Hello!
I’ve been looking all over but haven’t found anything quite like what I need. I’m hoping you all can help.
Let me try to summarize. Ideally I need to have a master sheet with all my data that automatically updates several external sheets with specific data from within the master. They also need to be able to add and delete automatically when the master is updated.
For example I have a table of account numbers, their amounts, rates, related entities, etc on the master sheet. I’ll also need spreadsheets that only shows account information for Entity A, another for Entity B, and so on. Entity A and B may have some of the same account information, but not all.
I know I can reference the master with a formula, but if new accounts are added, I’ll have to manually update each sheet. I’d like to avoid that.
I looked into Power Query, but I don’t need it to combine multiple sheets or manipulate any data. Pivot tables also don’t seem to be working for this.
TIA.

- Pulling data out of multiple tables across sheets to a master table?I am seeking to make a workbook that tracks to do lists across multiple different projects at our firm. We have about 50 projects going, so I made a pivot table and created a sheet for each project. Next, I want each sheet to have a list of tasks and deadlines, my thinking is that I need to make a table on each sheet, and then find a way to pull each respective table’s task/deadlines to the master sheet. Each project has different number of entries, or none at all is there a good way to create a table on each sheet without having to do it individually on each sheet? which function do I use to pull the data from each table into the master table? thank you for your explanations & education in excel submitted by /u/randominternetguy3 [link] [comments]
- Excel with PowerAutomat vs List with automationSo I manage a spreadsheet of nursing students coming into our healthcare system. I update it manually when a student name is added to a rotation in ACEMAPP (our web based student management solution) and I change the status in the spreadsheet to “Approved” when the student has completed their onboarding to be onsite. I am trying to get the spreadsheet to email the Unit Contact to let them know 1) when a student name is added 2) when the status is approved, so they don’t always have to just go check it for changes. I was talking to our SharePoint person and she said I should use Lists instead of trying to learn PowerAutomate for the spreadsheet in Excel. Thoughts? I am a masters prepared nurse who manages incoming healthcare students, but I do a lot of data management and would love to create a living database like this to track our over 3000 students per year. Basically feel free to dumb it down for me, but I am a quick learner with a deep interest in data analysis and management (currently looking at adding an MBA in Project Management to my letters). submitted by /u/TaitterZ [link] [comments]
- Is it possible to have sheets displaying specific parts of a 'main' sheet that also update automatically?Sorry, I had to repost because apparently my title wasn't specific enough. basically, I have a project im working on that im using execl for. What I wanna do is make a giant list with Execl and then have multiple sheets displaying specific info from the main list and still have each sheets be able to able to organize/filter the mini list it has. EXAMPLE: MAIN LIST Cake - Vanilla - 2 Cake - Chocolate - 1 Cake - Strawberry - 1 Donut - Vanilla - 1 Donut - Chocolate - 3 Cookie - Chocolate - 2 VANILLA LIST Donut - Vanilla - 1 Cake - Vanilla - 2 CHOCOLATE LIST Cake - Chocolate - 1 Cookie - Chocolate - 2 Donut - Chocolate - 3 STRAWBERRY LIST Cake - Strawberry - 2 kinda like that, but I would also like it if each time i updated the main list, it would automatically update the relevant list. ex: i add 'macaroon - Strawberry - 1' to the main list, and then it automatically shows up in the Strawberry list above 'Cake - Strawberry - 2' I've tried to turn the main list into a table and then made another table on separate sheets, use "= main list ! a1" to copy the data , and use the table filter to show the specific info i want on each one, but when I type new things into the main list, it doesn't update automatically as I would like. Is there any way for what I want to be possible, or am I gonna have to throw in the towel? submitted by /u/Hour_Let5967 [link] [comments]
- MasterSheet that updates in real time?I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that combines all the sheets in a workbook into 1 MasterSheet that updates in real time. So far the best I can do is a VBA script that will combine them all, but the script has to be run each time changes are made to any of the individual sheets. Is there a way to make it so any changes to one of the sheets are immediately captured in the MasterSheet? submitted by /u/FrenziedPhallus [link] [comments]
