How to create this pivot table
Our take
Hello I want to create this pivot table of thresholds with vacation balance data. Disregard the numbers as they don’t make sense since it’s a broken table.
Anyway this is basically to serve as a dashboard summary of the number of people who have taken >3 sick days, and similarly how many have not taken >5 vacations etc. etc
Pivot table videos keep going over how to drag the column title to become rows in a pivot table … that’s not what I need here. I need the pivot rows to go across the top like this like columns and the threshold count of people under the respective column
Lastly, the counts — if you clicked on the number it would pop up a new excel tab listing the people who were counted.
Can someone please explain to me in easy excel language how to even start to do this and have tabs pop up like this.
Any reference videos would be great
Thanks !

- Pivot Table Trouble; outputting equal numbers despite that not being the caseAn example of what a behavioral interaction unit's result looks like, alongside column categories. There are 1535 total rows to this data sheet. The current pivot table I am working with. Not only does it have every behavior using the same number, it also has a higher Grand Total than I have rows in my datasheet (1535). The current setup for my pivot table. Hey all, I'm looking to create a pivot table to help me count how many of a set of animal behaviors were observed in some videos. My initial spreadsheet has dropdowns for the sex of the individual (male, female, female with pup, unknown), dropdowns for who is the "sender" and who is the "receiver" (some include 'both' for spontaneous starts), and dropdowns for the presence or absence of each behavior. There's also drop downs for no instances of aggression within our subsamples (to separate out the "didn't happens" from the "no interactions"). The problem comes when I try and create a pivot table that counts how many of each behavior happened with each sex; interactions for female senders x male, female, female with pup, and unknown receivers, and so on. The pivot table itself uses the same counts for each behavior, even though every interaction did not involve all of the same behaviors; while it may be a coincidence that a given behavior is exhibited the exact same number of times, all of them being the same number across the columns for every single row is giving me pause and is making me think I did something wrong. Is there any way I could make this pivot table work (this is my first time trying one out)? Would there be a better solution to my problem? Thanks in advance! Quick edit: I am in Excel 2021. submitted by /u/RnbwTurtle [link] [comments]
- pivot tables - exist something like filter by column?Good morning community. I don’t usually use pivot tables much, because I tend to prefer building my reports with filters and formulas, but my boss loves them. The problem is that many times he doesn’t even know exactly what he really wants. Here’s the issue. I have a table where data is divided into categories, for example: Column A – Primary Categories Column B – Secondary Categories Column C – Tertiary Categories From Column D onward… prices, with each column representing a different month. My boss wants a pivot table where he can filter by categories (I already have that done), but also be able to filter somehow by just one month, or several, or all of them, since he then wants to use that in a chart (this part is also already done). AND HE ONLY WANTS TO SEE THE CHART AND CONTROL THE DATA FROM THERE—in other words, he doesn’t want to have to go into the pivot table to edit it by adding or removing columns. So the question is… how can I (if it’s even possible directly from the pivot table) quickly change the columns I’m displaying with a button? That is, without having to manually edit the pivot table. So far, the solution I found was to create a “column” using formulas where I bring in the data with “HLOOKUP” and change the filter with a dropdown list linked to a macro that refreshes the pivot table every time its value changes. But I’d like to know if pivot tables have a more direct way to solve this. Thank you very much. submitted by /u/Potential-Aside-1712 [link] [comments]
- Is there a way to make a pivot table out of multiple tabs?I was handed a spreadsheet with multiple tabs and asked to make a pivot table that combines all these tabs. The tabs all have identical layouts, but with different amounts of rows, could be 21 items on a tab, or it could be 60, etc There are header and footer rows in each tab, but I would only want to pivot the data I've highlighted in the screenshot. Is there an easy way to do this? submitted by /u/jimmyjamcake [link] [comments]
- How can I create a pivot table with the PowerPivot Measure being used for the rows?Building an inventory valuation model. Basically, taking data from sales, warehouse inventory, and stores to find lower of costs/sales value. I'm also applying a obsolescence formula that basically just says "if we sold 12.5% of our all available units over the year, then mark it as current, otherwise mark it as the last date we received it in the warehouse". This measure is named "Slow moving date". I'd like to use "slow moving date" as a row in a pivot table, but Excel says that value can't be a row. How can I force it to allow the dates as a row without having to copy/paste numbers only from a different pivot to make it work? submitted by /u/scaredycat_z [link] [comments]
