How To Group Multiple Rows?
Our take
Hoping someone has a good tip for this. I have an excel sheet with 14,035 rows of data and 466 columns of data. Many rows share a common order number or common address. What is the best excel feature to group these rows and maintain all 466 columns? I’d like a heirarchmal grouping if possible, first by order number then by address. I’ve tried Power Query, get from Table but I can’t quickly convert this much data into a table.
We have customers with multiple address booked under a single order number - order number is at the customer level. at each address there may be multiple products. I need a way to quickly answer these types of questions…
-How many customer order numbers are there?
-What % of address locations have XYZ mix of products?
-How many address locations have multiple products? and what are the products?
-What is the age of the individual products?

- How to handle data from different sources when columns are in different orders?I regularly get CSV exports from multiple clients. Each client uses their own column order. One puts names in column A and dates in column B, another swaps them. Manually rearranging every time is driving me crazy. What's your go-to method for standardizing columns from different sources? Power Query seems powerful but I'm not sure where to start. I've tried INDEX/MATCH with header lookups, but it gets messy when column names vary slightly. Also open to VBA solutions if they're reusable. Any tips or templates you'd recommend? submitted by /u/biggy_boy17 [link] [comments]
- How do I Maximize File EfficiencyI work with data sets that I typically look at forecast by year. Currently when I look at 2026 and 2027 it is rougly 1.4M lines of data. I have to put these in two separate data pulls and tables. Then I have six different customers included in this data. so I have to create 6 tabs with six diffrent pivot tables for them to look at. This has created a massive file that lags just to open, save or close so I really have two questions and am open to suggestions. Would it be better to store the data in one worksheet and then link a second worksheet that just has the pivot tables and separated look? If so how would I creat that link? Can you explain to me like I am 5 how I would use power query to combine the 26 and 27 table so that they could be in the same pivot table? Every column in both are identical. submitted by /u/dcal69 [link] [comments]
- Helping a coworker- How to return a row with three criteria in an existing sheet?https://preview.redd.it/qpc1n7v6hnrg1.png?width=454&format=png&auto=webp&s=b418c6890f9257bc9e55d32d2d5fee93a0a02a31 Hey all , I KNOW there's an answer staring me in the face. I played around with PQ but didn't see what I liked. My coworker has data that looks like this In a new workbook, she wants to take this above data and return the number in C1 (and D1, and E1, etc.) in column A. But not just pasting vertically, returning it for every line of item#s. So Order A, Order A, Order A, etc. She also wants the item# returned in column B of the new book. Short of copying and pasting, I don't know a good way to do that. Finally, once she has those we can do an old fashioned lookup to get the qty to return in Column C, we're good there. Any thoughts? And please don't just say "PQ" and leave. If your answer is PQ, please give detailed instructions and advice. - Gather unique names to show multiple columns as well.G'day team. I am stuck at what should be a simple issue but my brain has gone away on holidays it would seem. I have a csv of events of the previous month which has multiple ID's (col A)that match Suburbs (col B) and postcodes (zip codes) (col C). I am attempting to sort the unique ID numbers to show the matching Suburb and Post Code. I have tried XLOOKUP, UNQUIE, GROUPBY and other Youtube hints but nothing working. I know it will be something simple but my brain is just not working the problem today. The data will be joined with Lat & Long coordinates for inclusion into a GIS report. Any help greatly appreciated. https://preview.redd.it/f67jzgbh5itg1.png?width=316&format=png&auto=webp&s=7c4f7839f66bcb0418762ccce5efeffd0b41f96e submitted by /u/Aussiediver [link] [comments]
