Pulling data from other tabs.
Our take
Pulling data from other tabs can streamline your spreadsheet experience, especially when managing information like caloric content for various foods. Instead of manually searching for specific cell values, you can use formulas that reference search terms like "Sugar" or "Fat." This approach allows your spreadsheet to automatically retrieve and display the corresponding caloric content per 100 grams, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in your calculations. By simplifying data retrieval, you empower your workflow and save valuable time while tracking dietary information effectively.
Is there a way to pull data from another tab, by simply writing a search word?
Example.. If I have a tab of values, x value 1, y value 2 etc..
Can I access those values in another tab with a formula based on "x" or "y" instead of the specific cell?
I'm making a spreadsheet of caloric content in different foods, to use when calculating the total caloric content of certain dishes, and it would be easier to just write "Sugar" and it automagically fills out the caloric content pr/100 g, instead of having to look it up every time.

- How to create a search barI've got a spreadsheet with 27 sheets for anime and I want to link them together in a new sheet and make it a search engine style like Google. - Info within cells or new sheet?I am trying to figure out the best option for data within a cell. So the company I work for has about 200 properties in an excel spreadsheet. Some are single family up to multi apt complexes. With any property having more than unit for rent, we would like to be able to see a break down by address. I created a tab, and linked the tab to the address on the main tab. But now that new tab is over 400 lines long and it makes it hard to find certain data. Is it possible to make the link take me to the corresponding cells in the new tab? Or can I make something on the main sheet, pop up with a breakdown per unit? - Return value based on word found in string of text in a cell?I am building a spreadsheet to help budget some expenses and am trying to automate as much as I can. I have a table in Column H with a keyword like "Gas" or "Electric" and then a corresponding category in Column I that groups this into something like "utilities". I have a spreadsheet where I export my bank statement and Column B is the vendor and Column C is the amt. I have Column D trying to group all the expenses based on the helper table in Columns H and I to quick and easy organize all the transactions for a month. I made the formula: =IFERROR(XLOOKUP(B3,ISNUMBER(SEARCH($H$3:$H$35,B2)),I:I),"Uncategorized") to try and get a return and it doesn't work just yet. I feel like I'm close but I'm not as familiar with XLOOKUP as I want and I cant figure out what I could use to make return any easier. Is there a simpler way to get a return like this from a string of text or am I missing something with how the XLOOKUP works? submitted by /u/Pmme10doller_psncard [link] [comments]
- Pulling data when looking at a specific cell?I know its possible to make a drop down menu, but is it possible to make it so that when I select something in the drop down menu and type in a value in the box to the left of the drop down menu, it looks up data from another sheet that Auto fills into to other boxes? I have read about the "LOOKUP" command, but im not sure it does what is want to do. I have posted a pic that hopefully shows what i mean Hope someone can help. submitted by /u/GGS1LENCE [link] [comments]
