Web: Issue Copying Single Value in Cell and Pasting in External App
Our take
I work in billing and our dx codes are listed in a cell. As of yesterday, I haven't been able to copy a single code at a time to paste into the emr app we use. It's an excel issue as I tried pasting in a browser search bar and it's also pasting the entire cell and not one at a time. Click and drag doesn't work, and it doesn't happen on the desktop version, but the desktop version sucks for my workflow. The only thing that keeps my workflow close to consistent is ctrl+x but I have to copy my worksheet into another file so I don't lose the original data if I forget to undo it all, which would also take a lot of time. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix?

- Pasting to Excel isn't working correctly - updating text to column makes it worseI've been copying and pasting data into excel the past few weeks just fine, but recently it takes every line break as a new cell. I've tried resetting the text to column fields like everyone suggests, but all it does is keep the top row of my text. The other rows just disappear. submitted by /u/xturvr [link] [comments]
- Cut/Paste - Drag/Drop not working Excel 365I have been fighting with this issue for months now and am at my wits end. This originally started on my PC computer but has followed me to my new Mac. If I try to Cut and Paste, or Drag and drop, if it is single cells, or rows of data, I get a spinning rainbow and then no changes. This even occurs when I want to insert rows in my sheet. It seems like it is timing out for some reason. I do keep my files on OneDrive. Is there a setting somewhere I have overlooked to allow it time to make these changes without timing out? - The clipboard error is the single biggest hinderance to my workflow. Has anyone found a true PERMANENT solution???https://preview.redd.it/5r6zrp4cs4yg1.png?width=724&format=png&auto=webp&s=184fcd150993ce3b11733af3c5ccdd4a69068f2e I am at my wit's end with this thing. I've read so many threads on it. Clear the clipboard, uninstall Logitech software, only have one window of Excel running at a time, disable Snipping Tool, few others. These solutions either do not work, are not permanent, or are not practical for my job. Many other users have reported the same. Has anyone found a proper, concrete, "I used to get this all the time, I did this one thing, haven't seen it since" solution? Excel has had this problem for YEARS. submitted by /u/homeslice1479 [link] [comments]
- Pasting from cells into Outlook NOT keeping source formattingI’m going to do my best to explain this in a way that makes sense: For work, I have an Excel spreadsheet containing all the templates of the emails I send most frequently. Normally, I double-click into the appropriate cell, CTRL-A, CTRL-C, and then go over to Outlook and CTRL-V into an email. Normally, this keeps the source formatting, but as of yesterday morning (March 26, 2026) it isn’t. Now I have to manually add all the bolded and underlined sections to every email and though it seems small, I can’t stress enough how much it’s thrown off my workflow. I CAN single-click the cell, CTRL-C, and CTRL-V the entire thing, border and all, into Outlook, but then I have to copy the contents, delete the border, and re-paste, and that’s stupid. I can also no longer copy part of the text within a cell; if I copy only a word, when I paste, it’s as though I copied everything. I’ve tried restarting my computer, shutting down my computer, checking for Windows and Microsoft updates, logging in and out of MS365, and extensively Googling the issue. I’ve checked all my paste setting in Outlook and they’re set to default to “keep source formatting”. I’m on Windows 11 and the latest versions of Excel and Outlook, and due to work I can’t revert to an earlier version. I’m going insane; please help me. submitted by /u/lubdubthrowaway [link] [comments]
