Wildly inaccurate trendline equations
Our take
Are you frustrated by wildly inaccurate trendline equations in your Excel graphs? You’re not alone. Many users encounter discrepancies, like receiving y = -27.433x + 129.83 instead of the expected y = -1.37x + 102 after simply adding a trendline. This common issue can derail your calculations and distort data insights. Fortunately, understanding the nuances of trendline settings and data arrangement can transform your graphing experience. Read on to uncover practical steps to achieve accurate trendlines and enhance your data analysis skills.
I'm trying to add trendlines to my line graph, and then use the equations to do further calculations, but the trendline equation is completely off. Equation should be y=-1.37x+102, but excel is giving me y=-27.433x+129.83
All I did was right-click, add trendline, add equations and r squared

- The linear function of my trendline is just straight up wrongSo, I am trying to do a trendline, it has x values from 0 to 0,5 and y values from 0 to 0,5, so it should be roughly y=1x, however excel insists its y=0,1x which is just straight up wrong.
