WPS vs Excel for simple spreadsheets?

Our take

If you’re navigating the world of simple spreadsheets—think basic formulas, data cleanup, and easy file sharing—you might be weighing your options between WPS Office and Excel. Many users find themselves seeking a cost-effective alternative to Microsoft 365, especially when tools like LibreOffice Calc can feel sluggish. WPS offers a familiar interface and functionality that closely resembles Excel, making it an attractive choice for everyday tasks. In this exploration, we’ll examine whether WPS is truly a worthy substitute for your normal spreadsheet needs.

Not doing anything fancy - basic formulas, data cleanup, and sharing files. I mainly just needed a simple Excel download option but didn’t really want to pay for Microsoft 365 again. LibreOffice Calc feels a bit sluggish on my system, so I’ve been looking at WPS instead. Is WPS close enough to Excel to be worth using for normal spreadsheet work?
