Any thoughts on getting data from MS word to excel and keeping it looking the same or similar?
Our take
I’m currently trying to use sheet 1 as the master sheet to share data across 10 other sheets (each of the other 10 sheets are designed for specific people) it is a rostering style platform to inform others as to who they are working with or who the can go to.
There’s a lot of shared data between the sheets and I’m trying to see if there’s a way to have a single sheet that I can input data into once and it share across all sheets in excel.
I’ve seen similar things done and trying to learn how to do it myself but after a couple of months of trial and error (soo many errors) I thought I’d try to reach out and ask for help or see if this is even possible?
But at the same time keeping it looking similar to the original word document?
Cheers and thank you in advance

- Creating Sub/Individual Sheets from Master SheetHello, I am trying to create a document for my team and myself where we can enter in tasks into a 'master' sheet with columns such as, "project ID, date created, issue, ball in court, resolution, etc", then subsequent sheets would be populated/available for each individual project ID to be able to drill down to just those. Thus, giving us a whole view (master sheet) and fine view (per project) of outstanding tasks. I've messed around with some stuff from google utilizing pivot tables to create sheets for each project but I find that it doesn't populate the other necessary information. I'm also having trouble getting it to auto populate, so if a new task is entered it will be shown in the appropriate project tab. Is this possible within excel? Is there a better/easier way to go about it? TIA submitted by /u/Ausmits [link] [comments]
- One master list to auto update several other listsHello! I’ve been looking all over but haven’t found anything quite like what I need. I’m hoping you all can help. Let me try to summarize. Ideally I need to have a master sheet with all my data that automatically updates several external sheets with specific data from within the master. They also need to be able to add and delete automatically when the master is updated. For example I have a table of account numbers, their amounts, rates, related entities, etc on the master sheet. I’ll also need spreadsheets that only shows account information for Entity A, another for Entity B, and so on. Entity A and B may have some of the same account information, but not all. I know I can reference the master with a formula, but if new accounts are added, I’ll have to manually update each sheet. I’d like to avoid that. I looked into Power Query, but I don’t need it to combine multiple sheets or manipulate any data. Pivot tables also don’t seem to be working for this. - Using Data from Two Sheets to find classesI work in a corporate job and somehow became the person on my team that knows excel best. I’m okay with excel. Not an expert. But I need help. I have a spreadsheet that lists available training classes and how many seats the class has and how many are still available. I also have a sheet of learner requests for classes. I would love to combine the data and be able to query or pivot to show a list of students that could be enrolled into available classes. What’s the best method of going about that? Thanks. If I need to go elsewhere to ask questions like this please direct me. Thanks. submitted by /u/Coffee4words [link] [comments]
- Pulling data out of multiple tables across sheets to a master table?I am seeking to make a workbook that tracks to do lists across multiple different projects at our firm. We have about 50 projects going, so I made a pivot table and created a sheet for each project. Next, I want each sheet to have a list of tasks and deadlines, my thinking is that I need to make a table on each sheet, and then find a way to pull each respective table’s task/deadlines to the master sheet. Each project has different number of entries, or none at all is there a good way to create a table on each sheet without having to do it individually on each sheet? which function do I use to pull the data from each table into the master table? thank you for your explanations & education in excel submitted by /u/randominternetguy3 [link] [comments]
