Creating Sub/Individual Sheets from Master Sheet
Our take
Hello,
I am trying to create a document for my team and myself where we can enter in tasks into a 'master' sheet with columns such as, "project ID, date created, issue, ball in court, resolution, etc", then subsequent sheets would be populated/available for each individual project ID to be able to drill down to just those. Thus, giving us a whole view (master sheet) and fine view (per project) of outstanding tasks. I've messed around with some stuff from google utilizing pivot tables to create sheets for each project but I find that it doesn't populate the other necessary information. I'm also having trouble getting it to auto populate, so if a new task is entered it will be shown in the appropriate project tab. Is this possible within excel? Is there a better/easier way to go about it?
TIA

- Pulling data out of multiple tables across sheets to a master table?I am seeking to make a workbook that tracks to do lists across multiple different projects at our firm. We have about 50 projects going, so I made a pivot table and created a sheet for each project. Next, I want each sheet to have a list of tasks and deadlines, my thinking is that I need to make a table on each sheet, and then find a way to pull each respective table’s task/deadlines to the master sheet. Each project has different number of entries, or none at all is there a good way to create a table on each sheet without having to do it individually on each sheet? which function do I use to pull the data from each table into the master table? thank you for your explanations & education in excel submitted by /u/randominternetguy3 [link] [comments]
- One master list to auto update several other listsHello! I’ve been looking all over but haven’t found anything quite like what I need. I’m hoping you all can help. Let me try to summarize. Ideally I need to have a master sheet with all my data that automatically updates several external sheets with specific data from within the master. They also need to be able to add and delete automatically when the master is updated. For example I have a table of account numbers, their amounts, rates, related entities, etc on the master sheet. I’ll also need spreadsheets that only shows account information for Entity A, another for Entity B, and so on. Entity A and B may have some of the same account information, but not all. I know I can reference the master with a formula, but if new accounts are added, I’ll have to manually update each sheet. I’d like to avoid that. I looked into Power Query, but I don’t need it to combine multiple sheets or manipulate any data. Pivot tables also don’t seem to be working for this. - Pulling data from one sheet based on a columnApologies I’m not that experienced with Excel. I have a sheet with dates that a task needs to be completed (sorry for the photo of a screen but work IT won’t let me screenshot). I have a Master List sheet of all dates due (column D adds 48 weeks to Column C and Column E extracts the month from D). I want a sheet for each month and for each month’s sheet to pull the IDs from Column A so we can just look and see which tasks are due in e.g. January. And so that all are visible in the Master List so we don’t end up with duplicate IDs (column A has highlight rules for duplicates). I tried google and think it might need VLOOKUP but couldn’t seem to get it to work. Thanks. submitted by /u/arrianne_ [link] [comments]
- Looking for project tracking ideasHi, As the title suggests I’m trying to create an Excel sheet that tracks the progress of various projects. Essentially, I was given a messy excel document to look after. I don’t have particularly advanced skills and nor do I want to spend too much time on this. So… One sheet lists projects as rows and they all have a reference code. There is a column designated for “action updates” where people overwrite progress each month. Other columns exist for project status, dates etc. My idea was to create another sheet which also lists the projects but acts as an action/change history log. I attempted to have a drop down through grouped cells that would act as a historic list of all changes and action updates around each project. The row with the corresponding project number would act as a “live view”, so using an X look up to display this data on the original sheet. Is there a better way to create something like this? There must be loads of ways to do something like this, but I just can’t think which way to do it!! Thank you for any help!!! submitted by /u/Formal_Disk_3760 [link] [comments]
