Creating a Box and whisker or stacked column graph with given values
Our take
Hello,
So I'm working on creating 5 box and whisker/stacked column graphs with given min, median, max, Q1, and Q3 IRR values however I realized that box and whisker needs to have the original data set to make a chart in excel. I'm also using Power BI but that really isn't working out for me either. My main issue with the stacked column graph is that it's using the total values of the IRR instead of finding the difference.
So I used the differences to make a stacked column but now I'm encountering the issue that my min values and some of Q1 values are negative so they aren't stacking the right amounts or a certain quartile will just get cut off at zero and not have the right gap size.
If anyone knows how to do this in Power BI or excel that'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have the data set for each football league, and the ELO Rating for each club in that league. Column A = League Column B = Team Column C = ELO rating No matter what chart type I use, I cannot get the data to display like above. The closest I can get is 'Box and Whisker' and then tick 'Show Inner Points', but this still leaves the Box and the minimum/maximum values that I don't want. I just want the data points on their own like above. Please help. submitted by /u/LinkTheFires [link] [comments]
- Box and Whisker FormattingI’m trying to make a box and whisker plot with log(concentration) on the y-axis for the measurement of various compounds. I want to have a group of three bars then a gap followed by another group of 3 and gap….etc. Each group of three represents one type of data point (the particular compound being measured) and then each bar is a different sampling site. I have not been able to figure out the best way to format this in Excel and make it readable. Can anyone help with this? When I enter the raw data and create a blank “Gap” series, the plot is very small and not scaled well. submitted by /u/Independent_Net8881 [link] [comments]
- Making series specific categories on a box and whisker plotI am trying to make a box and whisker plot from a dataset with four series and many categories. Each series has its own unique categories. When I plot each series individually, the box and whisker plots look fine, but when I plot them together they get really squished. I found out that Excel plots each series as though it has data for each category, instead of its own set of categories. This makes the resulting boxes look really squished. I filled in some blanks with 0's to understand what was going on. https://preview.redd.it/7bzp08tnhp0h1.png?width=1579&format=png&auto=webp&s=147114c253d508a82fc0c86b83ed2362a6dada5d Is there a way to plot these different series together so that each of them has its own separate set of categories? submitted by /u/Real-Alternative-653 [link] [comments]
- How to create a box and whisker plot with two Y axis?I'm trying to essentially combine these two boxplots, which have the same units but very different scales. Therefore, my goal is to create a secondary Y-axis, but I can't figure out how to do that for a box and whisker plot.
