For Excel Web feature looking "paste value only as default"
Our take
Managing inventory in Excel can quickly become chaotic, especially when standard copy-paste functions include unwanted formatting and conditions. To streamline your workflow and ensure consistency, setting "Paste Values Only" as the default option is essential. This adjustment will simplify data entry and maintain the integrity of your inventory management. By focusing on the values you need without the clutter of additional formatting, you can enhance productivity and reduce errors. Let’s explore how to make this change and create a more efficient spreadsheet experience.
So my place using mostly excel as a main tool for maintaining inventory right now. and with everyone using normal copy paste. it pasting the format, condition everywhere. how can I make the past value only as the default one? It is so messy and mess up the whole management thing.

- Paste Without Format NOT ctrl+VI looked everywhere but couldn't find a satisfactory answer (which probably means it doesn't exist). I am managing a shared excel file with people who will copy and paste information in and will be able to grab that information and do things with it. The issue, is every time they paste something it breaks my conditional formatting which is the main way I am able to sort through and organize what they give me. Is there a way to have the default past as paste without formatting because I can not control how they paste the information in. (No asking them to do ctrl+Shift+v will not work, please don't even recommend it.) If there are any other ideas on how to deal with this issue, please let me know. EDIT: NO CTRL+SHIFT+V I am not the one pasting these values in, others are! Conclusion: There isn't (currently) a way to do this, but the general consensus is to have them paste all the information into its own thing and then use power query to get the data I need. - Web: Issue Copying Single Value in Cell and Pasting in External AppI work in billing and our dx codes are listed in a cell. As of yesterday, I haven't been able to copy a single code at a time to paste into the emr app we use. It's an excel issue as I tried pasting in a browser search bar and it's also pasting the entire cell and not one at a time. Click and drag doesn't work, and it doesn't happen on the desktop version, but the desktop version sucks for my workflow. The only thing that keeps my workflow close to consistent is ctrl+x but I have to copy my worksheet into another file so I don't lose the original data if I forget to undo it all, which would also take a lot of time. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix? submitted by /u/double-d-toots [link] [comments]
- Pasting from cells into Outlook NOT keeping source formattingI’m going to do my best to explain this in a way that makes sense: For work, I have an Excel spreadsheet containing all the templates of the emails I send most frequently. Normally, I double-click into the appropriate cell, CTRL-A, CTRL-C, and then go over to Outlook and CTRL-V into an email. Normally, this keeps the source formatting, but as of yesterday morning (March 26, 2026) it isn’t. Now I have to manually add all the bolded and underlined sections to every email and though it seems small, I can’t stress enough how much it’s thrown off my workflow. I CAN single-click the cell, CTRL-C, and CTRL-V the entire thing, border and all, into Outlook, but then I have to copy the contents, delete the border, and re-paste, and that’s stupid. I can also no longer copy part of the text within a cell; if I copy only a word, when I paste, it’s as though I copied everything. I’ve tried restarting my computer, shutting down my computer, checking for Windows and Microsoft updates, logging in and out of MS365, and extensively Googling the issue. I’ve checked all my paste setting in Outlook and they’re set to default to “keep source formatting”. I’m on Windows 11 and the latest versions of Excel and Outlook, and due to work I can’t revert to an earlier version. I’m going insane; please help me. submitted by /u/lubdubthrowaway [link] [comments]
