Get ready to reclaim your time and enhance your productivity with these actionable tips!
Hi everyone!
I’m currently cleaning a large dataset in Excel and running into an issue. There are specific rows across my columns that I need to delete, but manually selecting and deleting each row one by one is way too time-consuming given the size of the data.
For example, in the screenshot I’ve attached, the highlighted rows are the ones I want to remove. These rows follow a pattern, but I’m not sure of the most efficient way to bulk delete them without going through each row individually.
Does anyone have tips or methods (filters, formulas, shortcuts, etc.) for deleting specific rows quickly in Excel? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

- Over 1 million rows - how to delete blanks? We have an Excel file that was exported from Smartsheet. Unfortunately when exported it brought over 1 millions rows - less than 300 rows have data. How do we delete all of the blank rows? I know we could copy the data we need to a new spreadsheet, but we have already setup formulas, conditional formatting, etc. The file is kind of slow (shared via OneDrive) and we are working to reduce some of the conditional formatting, etc but I think the formulas checking a million rows has to be slowing it down some too. submitted by /u/No-Alfalfa6437 [link] [comments]
- Any way to automate removal of older rows of data?I have a spreadsheet with 4 columns: first name, last name, score and date. I have people who are duplicated, some with the same date which I can easily remove with "remove duplicates" but I have examples where there are people with multiple rows from where they have taken a test a few years later, and i am trying to find a way to optimise my chopping up of this spreadsheet to only have a single row per user, and showing only their most recent score for the test. The date column is dd/mm/yyyy and then a 24 hour format time stamp and I can't think of a good way to optimise that as it covers multiple years. Theres no good consistency over the old date and the most recent date I imagine excel has some way of pruning older data. Atleast I hope so or ill have to check 50000+ rows manually to remove old results 😭 submitted by /u/Skellyhell2 [link] [comments]

- Rows in file not getting deletedI am working on a data set where suddenly I am unable to delete few rows in between. As in only the data in the cells are getting deleted but the empty row is still present. Tried ctrl & -, manually deleting, tried converting to table and deleting. Tried all methods suggested by chat gpt and co pilot. This is a simple data set with values in general, text, number and date format. What is irritating is this is affecting all the other sheets in the same file. The only alternative solution now which is working is copying the entire data set everyday to a new sheet and then reworking. Can anyone explain why exactly this is happening. Been working with excel for few years and being unable to find the exact RCA is ruining my peace. Update: Unable to add rows as well. submitted by /u/dex_lab [link] [comments]
