Excel - Get Data - Access stuck on "Loading Data..."
Our take
If you're encountering issues with Excel's "Get Data" feature, where some queries from Access are stuck on "Loading Data," you're not alone. It can be frustrating when most queries refresh smoothly, yet a few linger without clear reasons. Since the queries involve minimal complexity—just pulling 10-20 rows without filtering, sorting, or additional scripts—it's essential to troubleshoot potential connectivity or performance issues. Let's explore effective solutions to resolve this challenge and ensure your pivot tables update seamlessly, enhancing your productivity.
I have a workbook with multiple queries that pull data from Access queries and load to pivot tables. Most of them update/refresh fine, but several of them just spin and get stuck on "Loading data..."
The query results are only like 10-20 rows for each of these that get stuck. The power query does no filtering/sorting or anything, I have no VBA doing anything, no macros, or conditional formatting.
I'm clueless as to why some are fine and these others just get stuck. Help!!! TIA.

- Excel Power Query refresh suddenly incredibly slowHi everyone, I have a file that I refresh daily with several queries. One of those became incredibly slow (few seconds to hasn't finished yet) from one day to the next. Nothing changed in the file or source, it is not very large (~5000 lines) and without any manipulations other than changing the data type. I have tried to change the privacy levels, background refresh, fast load and so on as I found online, but nothing helped. How can I solve this? - Pivot Table Show Details not working, any idea?Hi there, I am facing with a quite unique issue I think. There are some pivots in an Excel file that we use for internal reports for the AP team. The issue is that for the pivots there are several filters applied on, like Intercompany filter or "is the amount negative" etc. but there is the most important one is the Vendor filter, there are numerous vendors excluded, and I was like okay let me just recreate the pivot from the ground, but that would take a bit too much due to the vendor filter. The main problem is that the show details is not working, if I execute a double click on the pivot's total cells then it is loading for a 0.1 second and then nothing happens. If I try it after I close and reopen the file, then it loads for 2 seconds, with the botom right text saying "Reading Data" but then nothing, same results. It is a connection based pivot table, I tried to copy and paste into a new sheet the Pivot, didn't work, I tried to Save & Repair the file, it didn't work. Any idea? submitted by /u/Strange_Cell1142 [link] [comments]
- Slow spreadsheet - need troubleshootingHi, I have a spreadsheet that has two tabs, one is essentially the original data which is YTD driven for a particular GL account, the company has smaller amounts of transactions, so by December we are talking about maybe 3-5k rows of transactions for the account total. The main tab being utilized, has about 30 columns of look up and sumifs formulas referencing the source data and in total approx maybe 500 rows by year end? To me it doesn’t seem excessive. I’ve dealt with way heavier spreadsheets that have more omph and run faster. But for some reason this one is slow as all hell to work in. I’ve even tried barcoded some data and not seen any improvement. I’m not too techy into what else could be slowing it down. And ideas on what to troubleshoot from here? submitted by /u/SlideTemporary1526 [link] [comments]
- Excel Pivot Table Connections - Can't Connect, get an OLE Login, affecting all all files with pivot tables that aim at other files for the database. Only affecting me, at work, using sharepoint.Error pop ups Had to censor the work related URLs. This just started this morning. Files are almost exclusively .xslb (but ive confirmed that it is still doing it with a xlsm file as well) files that host a table of data. They are pivot tables/charts linked to the xslb files and created from those tables. We have been using them for years now. It is only affecting me (currently). I am the team lead, and i created all the files. The team is the ones that does pretty much all of the editing day in and day out. I just look at them now. I used to be the one editing them daily. It is affecting files only I have access to as well (so its not just a team members computer messing something up) , including ones i haven't edited in weeks. I have tried reverting versions to old copies, more than 2 weeks old and still does the same thing. Corporate laptops, that we cannot update/install/uninstall things. I have restarted / shut down multiple times today. Main issue When i load up one of the files, and click refresh (i have done by right clicking on the table and clicking refresh, by going to data, and clicking refresh all, and by the VB refresh script i have been using) and the linked pop ups are the errors im getting. The files are confirmed to be accessible, and not open in the background. I can open each database file and save updates to them. I cannot however, pull data from them. In the last popup, the file that it references for "Data Source" is always unique to whomever the last person to save the file was. Looks like a temp file. If i create a brand new file, recreate the same pivot table by doing the Data --> Get Data From File ---> browse to the sharepoint location, select the file. Import it and close and load to pivot table, it grabs the table successfully. If i then do a refresh on the new table, it works and refreshes just fine. However, its a querie and not a connection. If i try to instead go to Insert ---> Pivot table from external data source ---> and select the file on sharepoint. It will not load the file at all. If i instead download the file locally, and load it from the downloads folder, it will load the file and let me pick a table. So im leaning towards a connection to the sharepoint between excel and sharepoint. Thank you for any help solving this. submitted by /u/CanBeUsedAnywhere [link] [comments]
