Sorting columns on a LARGE Excel sheet with 5 pages
Our take
Hello, I’m looking for some help learning how to sort data columns on this excel sheet. The sheet is used to track inventory by the person who’s using it. In the top right of the page you’ll see a row of Zones with corresponding numbers. Below the zone, the name of the person consuming the inventory. Then a little below that, random numbers I’ve entered to simulate inventory demand. I need a way to select the zones and sort them from smallest to largest number while keeping the column information the same.
Also this page is connect to 4 other pages. The other pages are coded to look at this page and carry the data over. Is it possible to code this Excel sheet so that ALL pages sort by zone?

- Sort data with multiple header rows?Hi everyone! I am trying to see if it's possible for me to sort data in a sheet that has multiple header rows. The sheet is tracking orders in different statuses, I have it separated for the New orders in the top section, then row 11 starts those that have had initial attention, but not fully in progress, on row 25, I have a header row for those who are fully in progress, etc The purpose of the separation is because there is different information I have to keep track of for each of these statuses, but I don't want to have them in different sheets because it's so helpful to be able to refer to them all in one spot. I'm hoping to be able to alphabetically sort customer names and also sort by dates, but the date columns are not uniform throughout the different statuses. If anyone knows if this is possible, help would be so appreciated!! Nevermind everyone! I figured it out by highlighting each section and inserting a table with headers! Leaving this here and marking as solved in case it helps someone! submitted by /u/tashykat [link] [comments]
- Is there a way to keep rows together while using the SORT Formula?I am having excel use the sort formula so it’ll automatically sort anytime a new requirement is added onto a table on another sheet. However, anytime a new requirement is added, the data in the rows (user input) doesn’t get sorted. This causes a mismatch between the user input in the row and the requirement. I looked into just using the sort function instead. However, as the column it would need to be sorted by can include letters, excel is putting those at the bottom of the list. submitted by /u/Aromatic_Presence_49 [link] [comments]
- Is it possible to create a custom sort order? This is more of a curiosity than a problem I HAVE to solve, so it's not essential if I don't get a solution! I have some data that I wish to sort, but rather than 1-10 or A-Z, I need it to do a specific order. Is this possible? Ai Up Ye Un No EDIT: I know that I could just put the number in front of the words, basically like I have done here and than sort numerically. It just looks a bit clunky, and also I have very narrow column for this info as I need the whole sheet to fit on the screen and be legible. submitted by /u/BoudaSmoke [link] [comments]
- How To Group Multiple Rows?Hoping someone has a good tip for this. I have an excel sheet with 14,035 rows of data and 466 columns of data. Many rows share a common order number or common address. What is the best excel feature to group these rows and maintain all 466 columns? I’d like a heirarchmal grouping if possible, first by order number then by address. I’ve tried Power Query, get from Table but I can’t quickly convert this much data into a table. We have customers with multiple address booked under a single order number - order number is at the customer level. at each address there may be multiple products. I need a way to quickly answer these types of questions… -How many customer order numbers are there? -What % of address locations have XYZ mix of products? -How many address locations have multiple products? and what are the products? -What is the age of the individual products? submitted by /u/Impossible_Equal_642 [link] [comments]
