Are you struggling to combine values from two tables while ensuring accuracy by week?

The problem posted by Grabsky is a classic one, and it reveals a deeper truth about how most people are still wrestling with spreadsheets. The issue isn't a lack of effort, VLOOKUP was a reasonable first instinct, but a fundamental limitation of the tool itself. When a formula breaks simply because you copied it to a new row, the problem isn't you. It's that the spreadsheet wasn't designed to understand the relationships in your data.

What Grabsky needs is not a more complex formula. They need a smarter way to tell the spreadsheet, "These two tables are related by Week, so always match on that column and nothing else." In a traditional spreadsheet, this requires absolute references, helper columns, or array formulas that are fragile and hard to audit. The moment a user drags a formula down, they are effectively asking the software to guess which parts of the reference should move and which should stay. When the guess is wrong, the data is wrong. This is not a user error; it is a design flaw baked into the legacy spreadsheet model.

The practical takeaway here is that the future of data management does not require users to become formula experts. It requires tools that think relationally from the start. Imagine a formula that simply says, "Add Sales from Table1 to TeamSales from Table2 where Week matches." No dragging, no broken references, no manual verification. That is not a fantasy. It is what an AI-native spreadsheet can deliver today. The logic is straightforward: the tool should handle the matching, and the user should handle the analysis.

For anyone who has spent hours debugging VLOOKUP or rebuilding a workbook because a column shifted, this shift is transformative. It means you stop fighting the software and start focusing on the question you actually wanted to answer. The solution to Grabsky's problem is not a better workaround. It is a better foundation for how data and formulas interact. Start there, and the weekly sync becomes a single, readable expression, not a puzzle.

Hello. In Table1 in column "sum" I want to add amount form column "sales" to the amount of "TeamSales" from Table2 but I want formula to only add the same weeks. How can I do that? Tried to use Vlookup but when i copy it to other cells it does not verify weeks.
