There's something quietly brilliant about a football simulator that starts with three dice and a spreadsheet. The creator of this Excel-based league tool has built something that deserves attention, not because it's flashy, but because it's honest. It doesn't pretend to be a AAA video game or a complex data science platform. It's a focused, functional tool that lets you simulate an entire season, with weighted dice formulas designed to mirror real-world results. That's it. And that's exactly why it works.

For the spreadsheet fan or the football stat obsessive, this is a practical invitation to tinker. The automatic league table updates after every result, which removes the friction of manual tracking, and the 20 blank team names mean you're not locked into a specific league. You can populate it with your local Sunday league side, a fictional division, or a real league of your choice. The fixtures are set out for you automatically, so the entire season is playable from the start. This isn't just a novelty; it's a low-friction way to test your understanding of football randomness, probability, and the quirks that make the sport so compelling.

What stands out here is the weighting. Rolling three dice and mapping the outcomes to goal tallies is straightforward, but the fact that the formulas are weighted toward realistic results shows a level of care that goes beyond a casual weekend project. It suggests the creator understands that football isn't just about goals; it's about the distribution of those goals, the frequency of draws, the occasional upset. That attention to detail makes the simulator more than a toy. It becomes a tool for exploration, whether you're testing a hypothesis about league parity or just enjoying a season unfold without needing a referee or a pitch.

The call for feedback is the right move. This is the kind of project that improves with fresh eyes, especially from people who care about both the mechanics of spreadsheets and the unpredictability of football. If you're someone who's ever spent an afternoon building a formula that finally behaves the way you want, or if you've ever questioned why a 1-0 win feels different from a 4-3 thriller, this is worth your time. Give it a roll, break it, suggest a tweak. The creator has built something solid, and with the right input, it could become a staple for a niche but passionate community.

Ive been working on an Excel football simulator where you can roll 3 dice and simulate a whole football season where i have weighted the dice formulas so its more realistic to "real life" results

It automatically updates the league table after every result, comes with 20 blank team names so you can pick whatever league you want to play, or design your own sunday league division! Then you can play the whole season as all fixtures are automatically set out for you
