Restore control with a simple fix for missing row options

Feeling stuck when you can’t insert or delete rows in the online version of your spreadsheet can be frustrating.

This user's frustration is entirely understandable, and the fix is simpler than it feels. The missing row options in the online version of Excel for Edge are almost certainly a browser update issue, not a lost feature or a sign that you're doing something wrong. What you're experiencing is a collision between a browser's new behavior and an application's old expectation of it. The solution is straightforward: clear your browser cache or, if that doesn't work, try a private browsing window. That restores the right-click menu you're used to.

The practical takeaway here is about control, not complexity. When a tool you rely on suddenly stops responding the way it always has, it's natural to assume you've missed a setting or that the software itself changed. But in this case, the culprit is external: the Edge update may have altered how it handles right-click events inside web applications. Excel Online didn't break, it's being blocked by the browser's new rules. That's a reminder that even the most intuitive tools depend on a stable environment. And when that environment shifts, the fix is often a reset, not a redesign.

This matters because the promise of cloud-based spreadsheets is that they simplify your workflow, not add friction. You shouldn't have to hunt for basic row operations or wonder if your own competence is the problem. The fact that a browser update can silently strip away a core action like insert or delete row is a flaw in the system's resilience, not in your understanding. The good news is that the solution is in your hands, and it takes seconds.

So here's the concrete point: don't let a temporary glitch in your browser erode your confidence in a capable tool. Clear the cache, test in a private window, and if the problem persists, check for Edge's latest settings around right-click permissions. Your ability to manage rows was never missing, it was just being misrouted. And restoring it is the kind of fix that reminds you how much control you actually have.

Well I'm stuck. I cannot seem to find the option to delete a row or insert a row. I'm using the online version on Edge (recent Edge update, if that matters). Usually I can right click on the row number and insert or delete a row, but I cannot anymore. What am I doing wrong?
