Time calculations for multiple sheets at once
Our take
Managing time calculations across multiple sheets can feel like an overwhelming task, especially when you’re faced with updating each one individually. But there’s a powerful solution that can streamline your workflow and save you precious time. By utilizing a feature known as "cell linking" or "dynamic references," you can ensure that changing the year in one sheet automatically updates all connected sheets. Ready to discover how this can transform your spreadsheet experience? Let’s dive into the details and empower your efficiency!
Ok going to do my best to explain what I'm trying to do. I have a spreadsheet built with over 30 sheets on it. The data is pulled from a separate company wide sheet. What I am trying to do is make it so I don't have to go into each sheet separately and change the Time Calculation from 2025 to 2026. Is there a way to make it so if I change one all sheets will change? If it exists what is it called so I can research and learn about it?

- Is it possible? Populate a cell from a separate sheet dependent on today’s dateHi! I’ve spent a good hour trying to figure things out on my own, but I figured asking wouldn’t hurt. I have a spreadsheet listing out topics that rotate on a monthly basis. I want the title of that theme to auto-populate on a different sheet in the same spread so that it changes on a monthly basis, and for them to be the same in case the original topic changes as well I can get so far as to have the cell match the title using =‘2026’ ! Cell, but is there a way where I can get it to change based off the date? The original spreadsheet (not designed by me) is separated into columns titled Month, Location, Theme, and for some reason Date Range, though it’s always the beginning to end of the month. From there, we have 11 rows to each month. The only data that changes is the Topic. I am needing to create a new sheet based off these topics with additional information, but since the topics are subject to change, I’d like them to be attached to the original spreadsheet. submitted by /u/asclepicats [link] [comments]
- Time sheet that can draw from one spreadsheet, add a value, and add to a different spreadsheet.I am not sure exactly what I am looking for. I am a super beginner in excel. Think middle school in 2008 kind of beginner. I am trying to help with building a time sheet that will allow us to have one spreadsheet that will have job numbers and the people who have been assigned to the job and take that into another spreadsheet that will add numbers based on the job. eg, Job A is worth 12 hours, Job B is worth 3 hours. I feel as though I may be entirely out of my depth with this and am more than willing to admit defeat before we even begin, but figured I would reach out to the internet before giving in so early. Thank you all for reading. submitted by /u/plumremarkabl3 [link] [comments]
- Time In Lieu SpreadsheetHey All, I have used Google Sheets forever but my new job uses Office and I am struggling with some of Excel's functions. I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that tracks my time off in lieu (TOIL) so I know where I'm at. I've created the bare bones of the spreadsheet ash shown in the image but I need help cleaning it up. Ideally I would like to have all of the time columns (B:H) only have hh:mm format and then all of the 0:00:00 values that haven't been used not to be shown. In cell L1 I would like it to show the most current level of TOIL, again in hh:mm format. Is this possible or am I asking too much of Excel? Thanks in advance. https://preview.redd.it/c8u5ha2cxszg1.png?width=1001&format=png&auto=webp&s=3985daa3d11541abed488f377c62e375f6ab1224 submitted by /u/Silky_45 [link] [comments]
- Issue with spreadsheet containing time calculation formulasI have a new clock in/out machine which has 3 columns, 1 for clock in, 2 for clock out and a 3rd column for the total time worked. Staff can clock in/out multiple times a day. It comes to me as an xls file with all the in/out cells as 'general' format and the 3rd column is as custom hh:mm but not the subtraction formula to show the total time worked even though the numbers are right. If i change the in/out from general to custom and then hh:mm I seem to have to click each individual cell for the format to change from (ie) 09:58 AM to 09:58 without the AM but the PM cells still show PM and when i do the subtraction formula for the total time worked it comes out as an error value, no amount of trying different formulas will change it to what it needs to be. I don't mind the first 2 colums showing as AM/PM but even with them that way the subtraction for the total time calculation still comes up as with a 'value' error https://preview.redd.it/hvunwr4p58og1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=c11e3a1b77c137a4a40544c7bb2274e813d1038c submitted by /u/Loud-Conference8055 [link] [comments]
